OUR STORY
Born in Almaty.
Built for the curious.
CATA is a small team of Kazakh travellers, drivers, guides and route-designers who believe a journey should change you a little.
Travel, not tourism.
We started CATA because the region we love was being sold in two bad ways: as a checklist of monuments, or as an extreme sport. Neither is true. Central Asia and the Caucasus reward the slow traveller — the one who stays for the second cup of tea, who takes the road that adds an hour and subtracts a hundred tourists. We design for that traveller. Every route we sell, we have driven, eaten, slept and argued about. If a day doesn't earn its place, it goes.
One team, end to end.
The person who answers your first email is the person who designs your route, and the person your guide calls when a pass is closed. Nothing is outsourced. Our drivers have driven the Pamir Highway more times than they can count; our Kyrgyz horse-trek team has run Song-Kul camps for two decades; our Georgian table is a family in Kakheti that has never served a bad meal. We are not the cheapest — we are the ones who answer.
THE PROMISE
Answered within
one working day.
Honest itineraries. Real prices, no hidden fees. A phone that answers when it matters. And the freedom to say: "skip this city — you'll thank us."
Leave it better.
We hire locally first, pay above local rates, and use family-run guesthouses and yurt camps wherever they exist. Groups stay small because places stay small. Plastic leaves our routes with us. And a share of every Nomad Collection journey goes to trail and camp maintenance in the regions we walk through.
